Character Research - Vikings

The vikings were around from the late 8th century to the 12th. They were native to the Scandinavian area, Denmark, Norway and Finland until 865 A.D. when they invaded a small island off of the north of England. They are always distinguished by their trademark longship which was also used to trade cargo in exchange for iron which they used to make weapons

Vikings are usually mis-represented in most popular culture, they are usually shown as mean, barbaric and "scruffy". Whereas recent evidence has shown them to be more of a humble race, the kept themselves groomed and made sure that farmer, traders, women and children were never harmed, being their own or belonging to the enemy.

Although "Vikings" the TV series shows the Vikings in the view of the "popular opinion", they still have elements of how they are truly, for example they didn't wear horned helmets, and usually went into battle sometimes with as little as leather armour a shield and a sword. The horned helmets only came into existence in the early 19th century when people brought back the idea of Viking armour.

Thor, is the most recent (and probably most famous Norse God of this time)
